That should work, however attempting to change it via ADSIEdit is not. When you install Exchange it uses the hostname for the setup. I will report the problem for the help file.

Actually...you can change it via the command shell (no need to wait for SP1):

There info appears a bit off since there example doesn't have a properly
formatted URL so you get an error when you submit their version of the
command.
But I did the following:
Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity Server1 -AutodiscoverServiceInternalURI
"https://newservername.company.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml"
Once that was done, then the client picks up on the new name change.
Hopefully there aren't any side-effects, but that appears to be the
mechanism put in place by the dev boys.
