Re: multiple global catalog servers

Hi,

If you have only one AD domain there is no reason why you shouldn't make all
DC's GC's as well.

should have thought to ask this upfront - is it best to make all DCs also
be
GC servers or is there any reason not to?

Thanks again.

Hi Don

All GC's are created equal. its the FSMO roles that make the difference
on
2000 and 2003 domains

Here is a nice article on FSMO roles which you may find interesting

is the second gc server a "secondary" like in the old AD days or is it
equal
to the first ("primary").

My two connected offices have three domain controllers, one of which
is
the
global catalog server. I notice that when I down the gc server both
of
my
exchange servers really spaz out until I bring the gc back online.
Can
I
make
one of the other domain controllers also be a gc server and, if so,
what
is
the procedure?
