What I did/do is clear out AD with ADSI Edit. It works. I helps if you have
a non Exch 2007 prepared AD to compare against.

We killed a test Exchange 2007 system (32bit) as part of a trial in
disaster
recovery. It was a domain member, not the domain controller. However the
AD
Exchange user accounts were deleted by Admin as no longer needed (bad move

When we went to install Exchange 2007 again (64bit) the setup halted
saying
that only disaster recovery mode was possible.

I undeleted the AD Exchange accounts using ADrestore (and added what

like suitable security and groups back).

I managed to get "setup /m:recoverserver" running to copy files, but
failed
at Configuring Hub Transport Server Role with " Cannot find the Exchange
Organization Administrators Universal Security Group by using its
well-known
security identifier 3d604b35-d992-4155-aafd-8c0ae688ea0f. Please make
sure
that Setup /PrepareAD has been run."

Setup /PrepareAD fails with "Setup previously failed while performing the
action "DisasterRecovery". You cannot resume setup by performing the
action
"Install"."

Tried to remove using control panel, which failed, and now the setup
commands fail with:

"Setup previously failed while performing the action "DisasterRecovery".
You cannot resume setup by performing the action "Install"."

"Setup previously failed while performing the action "Uninstall". You
cannot resume setup by performing the action "Install"."

So any thoughts:

1. How to get out of this and install Exchange 2007.
2. Would installing a fresh on another server (under a different name)
help.
3. Sould I use ldp.exe or ADSIEDIT to delete anything exchange like (name
of
server ?).

I would like to re-install to carry on testing, but stuck at the moment.
