Thanks for your reply Leif. I had kind of come to the same conclusion. I
went ahead and disconnected the 5.5 server from the network two days ago. So
far nothing has broken.

Hi,.
No need to rehome. As long as you have replicas of the OAB folders on the
new server you should be fine - see also

I am trying to remove the first Exchange Server in a Site. This is an
Exchange 5.5 server. I have been following the steps in KB article
152959.
I have gotten to step 7 of the Offline Address Book instructions, but am
not
seeing the server that I want to have become the "Offline Address Book
Server". I've created the replicas of the Offline Address Book and OAB
Version 2 on the new server in accordance with step 4. I did this last
night, but am still not seeing the new server as an option to select as
the
new Offline Address Book Server. The new server is an Exchange 2003
server,
SP2. Am I missing something??
Thanks for the help
