thanks for the quick response, i am not running any firewall appication
at this time. this is a brand new build of Server 2003. the only thing
installed at this time is Exchange 2003 SP2. I cannot telnet into the
server from inside or outside the network, but OWA works from both.

you
telnet to port 25 from outside your network?

OK, i have been trying to figure this out for days now and at wits end.
I hope someone here can help. I just built a new domain with a single
domain controller. Domain seems to functioning properly. On that domain
controller I installed Exchange 2003, then installed SP2 for Exchange.
Before I swicthed over my MX records I wanted to verify things are
working correctly. So I telneted to the server IP on port 25 from the
server itself. That worked fine. I tried from another server on the
network, again to the server IP on port 25. It failed to connect, the
error is "Could not open connection to the host, on port 25". OWA does
work from inside and outside the network. Any help you can give me
would be greatly appreciated.
