Exchange 2007 requires all DCs to be Windows 2003?

Hi,
I'm setting up a pilot Exchange 2007 beta box. We got an forest root Active
Directory domain which originally was running Windows 2000. We extended the
schema to add a Windows 2003 domain controller. We transfered all FSMO from
the Windows 2000 to the Windows 2003 DC and made it the only global catalog
server. The funcional level was raised to native.
I start Exchange 2007 setup on a x64 box running as stand alone, the
pre-checks complete successfully, but next I get the following error:
Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of the Active
Directory: Domain Controller w2kdc1.mydomain.local Operating System version
is 5.0 (2195) Service Pack 4. The minimum version required is 5.2 (3790)
Service Pack 1.
I checked Exchange installation requirements and didn't find any reference
to all domain controllers be required to be running Windows 2003, but only
that the schema master and all global catalogs should be Windows 2003, and
the domain be in native mode.
Could you please let me know if this additional requirement is only for the
Beta 2 version of Exchange, or if it will be enforced on the RTM version?
Thank you very much,
mdgrkb
.
