Re: trying to install exchange 2003

Hello,

The domain controller is windows 2000. Active Directory is running in
native mode. We got rid of the last NT 4.0 servers and switched from mixed
mode to
native mode.

Marc

What kind of domain controller do you have? If your domain is NT4, you will
need to upgrade to Active Directory before upgrading to Exchange 2003.

re: installing on a windows 2003 non-domain controller.

pg. 136 of "Mastering Exchange 2003" indicatess that I need to setup a
Active Directory Connector agreement b/n the 2003 "domain controller"
and exchange 5.5. I don't have a 2003 domain controller. How should the
connector be set up?

Marc

I thought that exchange 2003 would install on a windows 2003 server
which
isn't a domain controller ...

Hello.

Currently we are using exchange 5.5 <native mode> on windows 2000.
I'm trying to install exchange 2003 on windows 2003 SP1. Regardless
of which version of Windows 2003 I run, I get the compatibility error
message.
I press continue and only the exchange management tools are loaded.

5.5 has a native mode?

1. Why am I getting this?

Known issue. Simply continue to install

2. What is the solution?

Ensure you are picking the right components to install and have met
all the pre-reqs., etc.. etc..

Marc
