Hi All,

I am trying to test exchange 2007 on a clean install of 2003 R2 X64.
Installation went A1, no problem.

My problem is with external connections to the server. The connector
setup
is changed in 2007 and my problem must be there somewhere in the
authentication required for incoming connections.

Here is a simple telnet session from a remote location to the exchange
box:

220 ns1 Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Sun, 6 Aug 2006
11:16:59 -0400
HELO test.gt.ca
250 x.domain.com Hello [10.10.1.2]
MAIL FROM:<jo@xxxxx>
530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated
Connection to host lost.

I am not an expert in exchange but had no problem with same setup in
exchange 2003. I believe my problem is with the connector and I have
removed
all selections for the security mechanisms for incoming connections but I
am
still stuck with this problem.

Any idea on where I should look for answers on this?

Also, would there be any problem uninstalling exchange 2007 and
reinstalling
exchange 2003 instead ? Would it require a clean install of the OS?

THX,
