Hi,
When you have only one exchange server you don't need a front-end server as
one url (like webmail.domain.com) will work.
When you have 2 exchange servers and only one of these are published to the
internet users with mailboxes on the published servers can still access
these. Users with mailboxes on the other server will type in the url, will
hit the first server and this server will redirect their request to the
other server and this can't work.
If using a front-end server this server will proxy their requests to the
mailbox server and therefore this will work.

That's a puzle for me as the first server is not configured as a
front-end.
But, ... it was transited from SBS 2003. Is this the reason?

Hi,
You need a front-end server in order to have only one url from the
internet.

Hi experts,
Just set up a new exchange server which is the second one in a one
domain, one org, one AG two RG exchange system.
The first exchange server has already got OWA and RPC/HTTP working.
It is supposed the OWA will work on the second after the
installation.However,
When I type the URL http://newexchangeservername/exchange it displays a
login page, but with the URL being
https://firstexchangeservername/exchweb/bin/auth/owalogon.asp?url=https://firstexchangeserver/exchange&reason=0
Then after entering the username password, it goes back to
https://newexchangeservername/exchange (note http -> https) but with
"Cannot find server" and "The page cannot be displayed" message.
Does anybody knows why it happens this way?
Thanks in advance,
.
