Re: Migrating Exchange 5.5 servers to Exchange 2003

I definitely have one user connection agreement which is from the UK
exchange server 5.5 and UK DC.

There is definitely no ADC in Belgium. I can see the belgium users who have
accounts in AD and mailboxes on the Belgium exchange 5.5 server and they
have exchange tabs,

It is very strange.

I dont know from this if I need to create another ADC or connection
agreement

Hi,

That should not be possible. You are sure that they don't have ADC
installed in Belgium?

I have once migrated a 60 sites 5.5 exchange organization to 2003 using
the deployment wizard. I did get 121 connection agreements in my single
ADC installation - thats why I asked if you used this wizard.

I wonder how you got the 5.5 users to show in the GAL. Try to create a
test user in AD and then create a test mailbox for this user on the
Belgian 5.5 server. Does this user account show the exchange tabs after
replication?

There is only 2 ADC connection agreement which is between the UK exchange
5.5 server and the UK DC. One for users and the other for public
folders. There are no agreements for the Belgium exchange 5.5 server.

So do i create another agreement on the existing ADC or create a new ADC
in the Belgium Site.

I as a UK user can see all the Belgium users in the global address book.

Can you please advise.

Hi,

If you used the exchange deployment wizard you should already have two
ADC connection agreements between the site in Belgium and a domain
controller. One public folder CA and one user CA. You don't have these?

Can you from a migrated user in the UK see the Belgian users in the
global catalog?

There should be no need to install another ADC, the existing one should
be able to perform the task.

We are migrating exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003. We have one windows
2000 native domain with 2 sites. One site is in UK and the other in
Belgium. Each site has one exchange 5.5 server which contains mailboxes
for its relevant site.. We are running one exchange 5.5 site.

I have forestprep and domainprep our forest and domain and also setup
an ADC on a windows 2003 server in the UK site. On the ADC there is a
recipient connection agreement between a DC in the UK site and the
exchange 5.5 server in the UK site. I have run the resource mailbox
wizard and connection agreement wizard on the ADC. On this server I
have installed Exchange 2003 server and moved all the mailboxes from
the UK exchange 5.5 server onto this new exchange 2003 server.

I know what to setup a new exchange 2003 server in the Belgium site and
move all the mailboxes from the Belgium exchange 5.5 server to the new
exchange 2003 server. My question is do I need to setup a new
recipient agreement for the belgium exchange 5.5 server and a DC. Then
i run the resource mailbox resource wizard.
Or would I need to install another ADC in the belgium site.

Basically do I need a ADC or recipient agreemenst for each exchange 5.5
server I want to migrate to excxhange 2003.

Please can anyone advise.
