RE: Exchange 2003 Restore Problem

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

When I try to run the wizard to find a match, it finishes with an error
saying 'Warning 'Mailbox name' : one or more conflicts detected' It has this
under every mailbox name in the wizards results.

Is there another method of retrieving the mailbox store from the backup?

Thanks
Brandan

If you highlight all the mailboxes (from within the mailbox recovery center)
you'll need to find a match first. Once a match is found, you should be able
to reconnect.

Hi Teo,

Reconnect is greyed out!? And the mailboxs have a red cross.

Thank you

Since you reinstalled everything, the AD accounts are no longer associated
with mailboxes. To reconnect the AD accounts, in ESM go to Tools - Mailbox
Recovery Center. Add your mailbox store, select all the mailboxes and choose
to reconnect. The wizard will guide you through the rest. Remember that
you've lost all your mailbox configuration information (custom smtp
addresses, custom limits, forwarding, etc...)

Was running Windows SBS 2003 with all the latest service packs etc.

Our server become unstable, IIS was not functioning correctly and generally
performance was very slow. After spending a lot of time trying to resolve
the problems individually I decide to format and install from fresh. Backup
up everything using MS Backup.

So I installed SBS from fresh, everything went ok. Added users, ran the
internet connection wizard and Updated service packs etc. Made sure that
server name and exchange store name were the same as before.

The next thing I tryed was restoring the Mailbox stores from the backup.
Download a Microsoft document titles 'Exchange 2003 Disater Recovery
Operations' and followed the instructions.

Made the databases overwriteable, dismounted the store. Ran the restore
from the backup. Completed OK. So looked in the Mailbox store and the
mailboxes are there. But now what? Thought they would overwrite the new
mailboxes that I created from the add new user wizard. Anyway, after about
30mins the recovered mailboxes get a red cross over them!

No mention of this in the 139 page document of how to do a restore.

So I'm a bit stumped, does anyone have any suggestions. Mean while I'll
keep plughing through the community groups.

Thanks
