SRS error during Exchange 2003 Setup

In the middle of installing Exchange 2003 for the first time into an
existing Exchange 5.5 site, I keep getting the error noted in the following
kb article:

The installation therefore fails, and I am unable to get 03 installed on the
box.

I've tried resetting the password in question, but regardless of what I set
it to, the installation still fails, and the account still gets locked out.
Obviously, there's a bad password involved in the process, but since I've
set the password on the account and during the installation to the same one,
for several times now, I'm not sure why the installation is failing. Any
ideas?
