default public folder store

Hello,

here is the setup:
E2k3 on w2k3 cluster 2A2P
We have configured the following:
- EVS1 with 4 storage groups, 5 databases. EVS1 SG0 has 1 public store.
All EVS1 mailbox stores have default public folder store pointing to EVS1
SG0 public store1
- EVS2 with 4 storage groups, 5 databases, all mailbox stores
All EVS2 mailbox stores have default public folder store pointing to EVS1
SG0 public store1

Do you see the default public folder store configuration on the mailbox
stores as an issue? what would happen if the EVS1 SG0 public store1 wasn't
available? would this stop users from even logging in on their mailbox store
as it used to do in Exchange 5.5? (of course local public folder content
wouldn't be accessible). Would the public folder referral still work to
remote sites?
