I seriously doubt that MS recommends granting full control on the GAL to Authenticated Users !!!
Could you be more specific on the problem you orginally had, I think you've been misleaded ?

Hi all,
We're having really annoying problems with Outlook 2003 and Exchange server 2003 enterprise edition..
After spending almost an entire week searching the net for others with the same problem, all I can find are people saying "fix the security on the GAL and it works"!!!!!
After installing WS2003 (standard edition), applying WS2003 SP1, installing exchange 2003, and installing ES2003 SP1, i created a new user in AD and assigned them to a mailbox on the exchange server. All's fine up to here.
I can log into the mailbox with OWA, that's fine. sends mail and receives OK. I can use POP3 (within outlook 2003) fine - as i can with IMAP. It's all good - but when i try and set up a profile to use the full exchange functionality - I get one of two errors. the first is "The name could not be resolved. the bookmark is not valid". the other is simply "The bookmark is not valid."
I have tried the security on the GAL - such as giving Authenticated Users full control of the GAL (as suggested by MS), i've even given that specific user full control of the GAL as well. There are NO deny entries on the GAL, so from what i can see it can't be that - does anyone else know what could be causing this?
This is a really frustrating problem!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
