E5.5 to E2K3 Migration - MTA Events

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Original setup was two Exchange 5.5 SP4 servers in the same site (LONDON)
and another E5.5 SP4 server in another site (PARIS).

We successfully installed two Exchange 2003 servers into the LONDON site and
moved the mailboxes off the E55-1 and E55-2 servers to the two E2K3 servers.
After moving public folders, site connectors etc I shutdown the E55-2 server
and used Exchange 5.5 Admin on the E55-1 server to delete E55-2 from the
organization.

All our email flows correctly and we are not seeing any problems, except
that both Exchange 2003 servers are logging the following events about every
12 minutes.

Event ID 9318
Source MSExchangeMTA
An RPC communications error occurred. Unable to bind over RPC. Locality
Table (LTAB) index: 73, Windows 2000/MTA error code: 1722. Comms error 1722,
Bind error 0, Remote Server Name E55-2 [MAIN BASE 1 500 %10] (14)

So I suspect that the Exchange 2003 servers don't know that E55-2 has been
removed. I will be removing E55-1 from the organization in due course -
could this fix this error or do I need to sort this out before I remove the
last Exchange 5.5 server in the LONDON site?
