Hi all, I m currently planning to mirgate Exchange 5.5 with NT4 domain TO
Exchange 2003 with 2003 Domain, I hope you guys can give me some comment of
my process if i have done anything wrong.
Background:
Domain A:
(NT4)PDC, (NT4)BDC, (NT4)Exchange5.5
Domain B:
(NT4)PDC, (NT4)BDC
Domain A and Domain B are two-way trust relationship, and Domain A & B Users
Use the SAME (NT4)Exchange 5.5, which is located on Domain A.
Process:
I will first install a (Windows2003) with Exchange2003 machine and join to
the existing Exchange 5.5 Orgainzation in Domain A.
Then I Suppost SRS will replicate directory information between Exchange
2003 and 5.5 AND ADC will installed.
Then I will do the Domain Mirgation.
Domain Migration (Domain A & B will use the SAME Mirgation Plan):
1. Install Windows Server 2003 on a new machine.
2. Use the Windows Server 2003 Active Directory wizard to turn on the Active
Directory service (or Dcpromo) and make it the first DC in the new domain,
eg, Domain X and Domain Y)
3. Set up a two-way trusts relationship between the existing NT domain
(Domain A)and the new Windows2003 domain(Domain X ).
4. Use Active Directory Migration Tools (ADMT) to migrate from NT to Windows
2003 domain.
After that, I will install a new Windows 2003 with Exchange 2003 machine in
the NEW 2003 Domain X
Then do the Exchange 2003 replication from domain A to Domain X
Question:
1.Is this a correct way to do the mirgation?
2.After this, are the user in Domain X and Y can both use the new exchange
2003 that is on the Domain X?
I m looking for your help!! Thanks
.
