If all you want to do is internal, then all you should have to do is create
the user mailboxes and setup their user profiles in the active directory
with a domain.local SMTP address and a X400 address. Those addresses should
be auto created when you setup the mailboxes. Then on the workstations
Outlook should only have a Microsoft Exchange Server e-mail account setup
for the user. This will only allow internal emailing, along with their
calendaring. I am not sure what you mean by a group mail list. If you are
talking about a Contact list then you just have to create a new Folder in
the Public Folders.
It sounds like you know what you are doing with Exchange. If what I stated
above is how you have it setup, then I do not know what your problem would
be. I have never had any problems with setting up Exchange 2003 for internal
use.
What I stated in the last message was for a customer that was running 5.5
and upgraded to 2003. 5.5 had some king of forwarding that if it could not
send it internally it would send it to the internet; they took that out of
2003. Other than doing that, Exchange is primarily setup for internal use.
