It sounds like you may have had a failed install of Exchange 2003.

-You can manually remove Exchange using Q260378
-You can remove Exchange from Active Directory using Q283027
-You can remove "ADC-Global-Names" attributes from 5.5 mailboxes using
Q319474
-You may also need to remove Exchange attributes from Active Directory User
accounts. You can do this by installing the E2k3 version of ADC, then
opening AD User & Computers on the same server, select User Account(s),
right click, choose Exchange tasks, Remove Exchange attributes.
