The event is definitely not good, it indicates a problem with the ADC. I
presume you have tried stopping and starting the ADC Service, and the event
returns after doing this. Probably some of the data in one of your ADC
connection agreements contains information about your old forest name.

Do you still have 5.5 servers that you are synchronizing with? If so I'd
probably recommend deleting all the User Connection Agreements and Public
Folder Connection agreements you have. Then re-running the ADC Tools to
recreate the connection agreements for you. Hopefully this will fix the
issue.

Hey there! Exchange neophyte here. I had to rebuild my Exchange 2003
server due to an domain rename. Exchange was uninstalled (manually) and
then reinstalled on the same box. I did not notice anything funny about the
install. ForestPrep and DomainPrep appeared to run fine and found no
errors. However, after everything was installed and my data imported, I
decided to check the event logs....Should have done this sooner. I notice
that abouut ebery 5 minutes I get the following:

Date: <current> Source: MSADC
Time: <every 5 minutes> Category: Service Controller
Type: Error Event ID: 8108
User: N/A
Computer: <MyServer>

Description:
The initialization process failed.

It doesn't appear to be causing any issues but I am anal and don't like
errors or warnings in my event logs. Please help!
Thanks!
