Exchange 2003 SP1 installation via NetInstall (running update.exe)

Hi,
I've a strange problem when trying to install the Exchange 2003 SP1 by using NetInstall service.

We have prepared an unattended file for SP installation. If the setup is started via console by a user having all necessary rights the update runs fine.

Because we have to deploy the SP on some more than one server we want to use NetInstall 5.7 to deploy the package via a service. We have assigned the necessary group memberships to the service user. We tried different ways "Execute", "RunAs" - combined with direct call of update.exe or via cmd, but the update to SP1 fails. It starts to check the system, shuts down EXH services, builds up lists of files to copy, but before it starts to copy files the services start again and setup quits without installing anything. The Exchange Server installation log show neither >>>>Failure nor >>>>Success - it just shuts down the installer.

I don't think that this is a NetInstall-only problem. Perhpaps the update.exe has a problem if started by a service user. Has anyone tried to install E2K3 via a service user and succeeded?

Best regards,
Maximilian
