MS Exchange Information store service could not be started

Hi All,
  We are working on a Windows 2003 server and have installed Exchange 2003
with SP1 and hotfix installed. After installing we are trying to start the
EXchange Information store service in Forest Domain. We are getting the
error code as 1053:The service did not respond to the star or control request
in a timely fashion.
  We tried artical 303186 in the MS knowledge base but without any help. We
also tried uninstalling the AV. Request you'll to help us in understanding
what other steps we can carry out.
