entering beginning balances historical year

I am entering beginning balances for the year 2003, using
the General Ledger Transactions window. The year 2003 is
marked as a historical year and I am using the last date
from the historical year.
The Batch Total Actual shows the sum of debit and credit
amounts from the source file, which is correct, but on the
edit list all of the entries are showing twice and the
total of debit and credit amounts shows each of them the
total of the batch total. When printing the Historical
Trial Balance the totals for Debit and Credit are correct.
Why the entries are showing twice as I entered them only
once, or does the system automatically create the
beginning balances for the open year??
