Re: Exchange 2007 changes alias' to default address

Exchange wont rewrite address's unless you have implemented a Transport Rule
or catch all type transport agent to do this. Outlook and OWA will always
resolve the email address back to the user so when you look at the message
in Outlook or OWA it will show you the friendly Name and not the actual
email address that the message was sent to. But the underlying properties
you retrieve via EWS will still reflect the original email address the
message was sent to. Unless you are talking about BCC where the recipient
information isn't held on the message. Look at the Transport header and
message tracking logs to work out what's happening to the message in transit

Hi Everybody,
I have an Exchange 2007 Server where I have 1 email address (also an AD
user) that has alot of email alias'.
I'm using the Exchange webservice to get these e-mails and store them in a
database and that part is working great.
My problem is that when I send an e-mail from any e-mail address be it my
outlook or my gmail to the alias ie. mp6000@xxxxxxxxxx, when I then
retrieve the e-mail again, through either the OWA or the webservice, the
mailaddress has changed to projectsmail@xxxxxxxxxx which is the default
address on the user. I, however need the number in the email alias to
filter the email to the correct project, in this case project ID 6000. I
can circumvent this by writing 'mp6000@xxxxxxxxxx' then I can get the
correct mail, but I cannot rely on the users to remember setting the ''
around the mailaddress.

Does anybody know how to force the Exchange Server to not do this? I want
to to show the alias email eventhough the mail resides in the projectsmail
users mailbox.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
