Attachment "Device Independent Bitmap" and CDO.Attachment.WriteToF

When I use the CDO.Attachment.WriteToFile method (CDO 1.2.1) to store an
Outlook attachment belonging to a Rich-Text message with a "Device
Independent Bitmap" (a Bitmap inserted into the message by Copy & Paste), the
resulting file isn't in a readable format anymore (i.e. cannot be opened by
Paint).
The same is true, when I save that attachment using MAPI Viewer (MFCMAPI).
The only difference is, the file seems to be larger than what the WriteToFile
method creates.
This is only true for Rich-Text messages with DIB attachments (the
attachment type DIB is reported when I click on "Properties" for the picture
within the Outlook message). Any other attachment can be exported without any
problem (except embedded messages).
Does anybody know how to get a DIB into a readable format?
Thanks for any help in advance!
Joern
