That's a bit confusing. Which is it? Remote via WAN link or remote to the
remote office? Or remote from the remote office to the CO to the remote
site?

RG's typically are set up as router boundaries.

You don't make changes to the routing etc for Exchange. Everyone in the
same org can have the domain for SMTP addresses. It's a feature of the
product. Exchange knows how to route when it gets setup. RG's can also be
defined to control WAN traffic.
