Re: Dead Exchange Server

Yes, its a server computer i built, i installed SBS 2003, its fully updated,
i had Exchange Server 2003 installed as well and fully updated that, it
messed up after installing the latest service pack. We were using the
certificate that was generated with the install, but i made a new one to
utilize the IP address of the server so we dont get certificate errors, that
was only working when connecting locally, but for some reason that stopped
working now and we get those errors again.

I talked with microsoft online chat and they couldnt figure anything out,
and they gave me a link to the microsoft exchange IT pro's, but its fairly
spendy, even for a small business like this one. My boss wants no part of
that, thats why im here, hoping somebody has some ideas, or has had this
problem before and knows the solution.

Is this an SBS Server? Are you using a Commercial Certificate to secure
your EAS connections? Have you considered calling a local IT Consultant?

I just recently did the update and installed i believe SP3 for Exchange?
Maybe it was SP2, i dont remember, its the neweset one since that was the
last of the updates.. But i ran into a problem...

I bought one of the new iPhones and i could NOT get it to sync with
exchange, i believe its because i was getting certificate errors which i
cant
get to go away, im using my servers IP address for the server since only
about 8 people use it, but i get certificate errors and mail doesnt sync,
so
i did the updates for exchange and afterwords ive noticed 3 things.

1) Every hour or 2 i would login to my E-Mail and all my mail would be
marked as unread (this has stopped sorta, kinda happens at random now)

2) I still cant sync my iPhone

3) Nobody can receive E-Mails, anyone sending an email to anyone gets
rejected, here's some of the errors

From GMail:
"Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the
recipient
domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further
information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server
returned was: 454 454 5.7.3 Client does not have permission to submit mail
to
this server. (state 13)."

From MSN (i replaced the email with ---@xxxxxxx:
"Reporting-MTA: dns;bay0-omc2-s12.bay0.hotmail.com
Received-From-MTA: dns;BAY140-W41
Arrival-Date: Sun, 21 Sep 2008 23:48:21 -0700

Final-Recipient: rfc822;---@xxxxxxx
Action: failed
Status: 5.7.0
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first"

It looks like they are both totally different errors to me, and im
clueless
as to what i need to do here. I have a very upset boss, and very upset
coworkers and ive been working on this for about 3 days now, and no
results... im clueless! I dont know much about an exchange server, but i
gotta admit i learned quite a bit the last few days(while off the clock),
but
i still believe ive only barely touched what is really all there.

If anybody could help me atleast solve the problem with people not being
able to send E-Mails to my server, i would be forever in your debt!

Thank you to anyone that helps!!
