Status 4.4.7 - email sent 11 times

Hello all,

I am investigating an issue where an email from our system was received 11
times by a recipient, though only sent once from our system. The email had a
4 MB pdf attachment and was sent at 5:05 pm. The recipient receives the
email at 6:28 pm, nearly an hour and a half later. Then receives the email
10 more times.

Our server reports Status 4.4.7 only once, saying the message was delayed.
However, our server queue has multiple copies of the email waiting to be sent.

While status 4.4.7 typically indicates a problem on the receiving server,
this is still strange.

This problem happened a few months ago with the same recipient, but has not
appeared until this morning and does not happen with any other recipients.

We are running Exchange 2003, sp2 on 2003 Server with Outlook 2003 clients
running on XP machines. Our Exchange server uses McAfee Groupshield software
for anti-spam and anti-virus.

Does anyone think there might be an issue with our server? I don't think
so, but figured I'd play it safe.

Thanks, Jeff
