Folks, Ive looked threw google and see this before but all the web
results seem to be "closed" or have been in archive for a while now.
Message delivery to the host '205.188.155.89' failed while delivering
to the remote domain 'aol.com' for the following reason: The
connection was dropped due to an SMTP protocol event sink.
The SMTP verb which caused the error is 'quit'. The response from
the remote server is ''.
Now, to me this seems that the recipent mail server (AOL) is not
accepting the Quit command. Ive done a telnet session to a few of
there mail servers (they have about 4 MX address's) said helo aol.com
(which the mail server accepted) I have then issued the command "quit"
which was sucessful.
I am running Server 2003 SP2 with Exchange 2003 SP2 web front end runs
threw ISA and the rest goes threw a PIX with smtp markup disabled as
it was messing with things! I am having a problem sending to about 2
other mail servers but that is due to another reason!
Any help would be greatful,
Adam.
Just a guess, but everytime I ran across this with my clients it was due to
their domain name being blacklisted. It sounds like you may be on a
blacklist and they are dropping emails from your domain/IP for that reason.
You can check with AOL to see if you are blacklisted.
Why is AOL rejecting mail from my domain?
