Re: Shared SMTP Address Space

Hi Leif,

I tried using that doc I tried method 1 but I am unclear if the changes are
supposed to be applied to both exchange orgs or only one. The other thing is
does it matter if the VS server is not on the RG master. I dont want to
distrupt the mailflow on the original E2k Org. If I want to share the same
smtp address space on the old e2k org and the new e2k3 org (both in different
AD's) and I want contacts or gal updates should I be using method 2? In the
end the old e2k org will dissapear?
I am getting ndr 5.1.1. from the rg master on the old e2k org,. I tried
forwarding all mail with unresolved recipients to the new rg master on the
new e2k3 org but it is bouncing and does not get delivered.

Thanks

Thanks

Hi,

If you used article 321721 to configure the servers it should work. What
does the NDR say.

ADC can't be used for sharing a GAL. You need to look for MIIS or IIPF.

Hi I have 2 different AD forrests and 2 Exchange org's
Domain 1 has 2 * E2k Servers Server 1 & Server 2
Domain 2 has 2 * E2k3 Servers Server 3 & Server 4

Domain 1 was *.domain1.gov.local
I already modified the recipient policy and made the following default
Domain 1 smtp address are *.@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Domain 2 smtp addresses are *.domain2.gov.local

Domain 1 Exchange Servers are working fine.

I would like to share the same SMTP address (*.@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) on the New
Servers

and eventually migrate from E2k to E2k3 Servers.

I Used KB 321721 as the basis for configuration, I can get emails outgoing
from the

New Derver but no incoming ( I get NDR's)

On Domain2 servers I modified the Recipient policy added domain1.gov.uk as
per step

3.
I added an SMTP connector as per Step 4 with smart host pointing @ Server
1
to with

domain1.gov.uk in the address space.

On the Old Servers Domain 1 I created an SNMP connector with smart host
pointing @

Server 3 with domain1.gov.uk in the address space.

Does it matter if the SMTP virtual servers in the Bridgehead group are not
the

routing group master?

Outbound from the New emails servers email deleivery works when I reply I
get an

NDR message (5.1.1) from Server 2 (which is the RG master) If I look in
the
message

tracking logs on Server 2 (Test users mailbox is on this Server) It looks
normal

gets submitted to categorizer then NDR Generated.

If I want to share the GAL etc between the two Exchange Org's E2k & E2k3
(they are different names) I believe I can use the ADC is that correct?

Thanks Mike
