There are a few spams going around with blank subject lines. As a wild
guess, however, if you were to block all messages with blank subject lines,
you'd probably see at least 50% false positives, which for most of us is
unacceptable.

Viruses with blank subject lines are extremely rare.

Stuff and nonsense. I am personally acquainted with many 14-year-olds and
they are all significantly more sophisticated than I am.

Please post a link to a reputable antivirus vendor/researcher's page that
includes information on mail-borne viruses sent via a blank subject line
method/payload; I'd be very interested in this.

You need Exchange-aware antivirus software to keep viruses out of your
system, period.
You also need to block specific attachment types.
I don't know what "brought in all manner of stuff" actually means, but I'd
sure hope your users don't have local admin rights, and I'd hope you have
workstation & server antivirus software running resident, and firewalls.

If one of my client's absent-minded customers were to accidentally send a
message with a blank subject line, I'd sure want it to go through.
