Re: SMTP to AOL

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

This is a possibility here as we can be sure based on the info thus far, but
they may have you on a blacklist for one reason or another...

Workaround: Since you have a SMTP server that can send to AOL, a workaround
would be to configure a connector for the @aol.com address space to route
through that server as a smart host. You would have to set that SMTP server
to allow relays from your Exchange connector box as well.

Fix: You could get more answers form SMTP protocol logging of the attempt to
connect to AOL (821910 How to troubleshoot for Exchange Server 2003
transport issues
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;821910 ) If they
are dropping the connection you could make contact to AOL support to see if
there is a possibility you are blacklisted and why.

It's already set to max. Another note. I have an SMTP server, that is on
the same subnet, sitting next to the Exchange Box, and it does NOT have
any problems sending to AOL.

Stop sending mail to AOL ;)
Can you increase Diagnostic Logging to see if you get more information?

We started having a problem on the 27th of June. We can't seem to
establish
a connection with AOL anymore. We don't have any problems sending to
other
locations, just AOL. The error we're getting follows, any suggestions
would
be greatly appreciated:

was
dropped due to an SMTP protocol event sink.
The SMTP verb which caused the error is 'quit'. The response from the
remote server is ''.
