Enable Exchange Tasks for user in Child Domain

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I have Exchange 2k3 installed on Win2k Sp4 server in my Parent Domain. I
want to create a mailbox for a user in my Child Domain but I get a Microsoft
Active Directory - Exchange Extension error.
Do I need to install an Exchange box in my Child Domain as well or is there
some security that can be set up to allow this from the Parent?
Thank you in advance,
Pete V.
