Can RPC over HTTPS Outlook profiles be created without RPC, for FE-BE env?

Can RPC over HTTPS in Outlook 2003 be created without RPC, for FE-BE
environment?

If I have a new remote XP client, can I send him a Outlook 2003 disc and
expect him to connect?

If so, please explain how, because I've been testing and can't make it work.

Do I need to send him a certificate? I did not have to do anything with a
cert for my RPC over HTTPS clients which initially connected to Exchange on
a LAN, and as a domain member (does that matter?).

Should he use the same URL/virtual server I use for OWA, or should I create
a new one?

We've setup a test XP box with only Outlook 2003 installed and connected it
to the internet but after creating the profile we get a message that
exchange but be started while online, etc...

Thanks for anything you can share.

Thank you
