I am trying to setup RPC over HTTPs via an apache reverse proxy.
I am using exchange 2003 sp1 on Windows Server 2003... I have a single
server with ADS, Exchange and IIS setup. I have a proper SSL cert from a
trusted vendor and IIS seems to be configured properly.
RPC over HTTPS is setup correctly and I can connect when on the local
network. I have used the rpcdiag switch in outlook to make sure I have
connected via HTTPS.
I have a linux FW that is forwarding traffic to a Apache 1.3 webserver
running on linux... I have apache setup to reverse proxy the requests for
OWA and OMA without issue to the exchange server. I am also proxying the
requests Rpc requests back to the exchange server. The apache server name is
webmail.domain.com and the exchange server is aliased internally to
webmail.domain.com.
When I test https://webmail.domain.com/rpc and login I get the 402.3 return
code and when I use the rpcping program I get a 200 code back externally.
I do not get an error message back from outlook even after letting it try to
connect for a couple hours... the rpcdiag screen just claims that it is
connecting... If I look in the apache server logs I see the request going to
the exchange server on 593, 6001, 6002, 6004 and many come back at 200 but a
number of them come back at 502 and 503.
Since I would imagine that things are setup on the exchange side correctly I
was hopping that someone else in the group has setup apache as a reverse
proxy and can lend some insight....
Cheers,
Derek
