You might be able to recover the information but your mileage will definitely vary. Has your deleted mailbox recovery period expired? If not, you should be able to reconnect the old mailbox to a new account.

Hi Ed,
I'm not quite clear on what you mean by "get to the OST file"? Here's the situation: The user, upon not being able to log on to the domain, deleted the user account in the AD and recreated another one with the same name, thinking the new account will inherit all the properties of the old one!
Only then, did he realize all the associated profile issues and the fact that Exchange is not running. So now when he launches Outlook with the new user account, it wants to create a new profile and connect to Exchange, which ends up failing. So right now he has the .OST file sitting in his old profile, with all his information inside, but not able to access it.
How would you suggest I'd be best able to make the contents of the OST file availabe to him, given the above situation.
Thanks again,

But if Outlook can still get to the OST file your best option would probably be to have users create a PST and copy everything to it.

Any ideas on how the .OST file on a client computer can be converted into a .PST? Exchange refuses to boot up and there are tonnes of contacts and emails that are sitting in the OST file. To complicate matters, the user had deleted his domain user account and created a new one. So Outlook 2007 wants to create a new profile. So I'm hoping to import the converted PST and have him use it until exchange is recovered somehow....
Thanks for your input
