Thanks everyone - here is MS's recommendation:

Oliver already recommended that. I suspect that is a specific MSFT newsgroup
staffer's recommendation. It isn't an official MS policy and Oliver
explained the downside. [Really, how hard is it for people to type in their
passwords *once* when they open Outlook? How often are they closing/opening
it throughout the day? ]

In this method, we will cache the user's credential so that they can
open Outlook without inputting credential. The following are detailed
steps:
On the Outlook Anywhere client:

1. Open Control Panel and Mail
2. Double click the email account and click More Settings
3. Click Security Tab and check if Always Prompt for logon
credentials item. If so, please uncheck this item.

4. Click Start, click run. Input the following command and
click OK
control keymgr.dll

5. In the "Stored user names and passwords" window, click Add.

6. Then, add the Exchange RPC server name, input your user's
credential and then click OK

7. Restart the computer

Test if the client can automatically log on his/her mailbox

I have moved a client from local Exchange to remote hosted exchange
- RPC over HTTP.
they don't want to have to enter a password each time they open
Outlook - is there a registry key that I can cache this password?
