Re: UK pound sign not displaying on sent emails

Hi

Thanks for the response.

As I said, the problem occurs even when sending mails internally so it's not
an outside mail server problem. The regional settings in Windows are
definitely set to UK, as are the clients. I just don't know where else the
characters could be getting stripped out. The customer has tried disabling
a/v and email scanning with no success.

Regards.

E-mail is required to be transferred using the ASCII 7-bit alphabet. If
mail gets converted to plain text, lots of special symbols will be lost.
There are myriad reasons and places that this kind of translation might
happen, so I wish you luck tracking your message through the various steps
to see where it's happening, if this indeed is the casue. Please note that
this problem is just as likely to be caused by the recipient's server(s) as
by yours.

Customer has Exchange 2007 (not SP1 yet)

When any user sends an email, either in Outlook 2007 or OWA, which
contains
a UK pound sign, £ , it does not display properly at the recipient. This
happens with both internal and external mail and with all users.

The same problem happens with other characters as well, such as TAB. There
may be others which haven't been noticed yet.

Any advice welcome since this is obviously a bit of a major problem since
it
is a UK customer.

Thanks
