I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm not the religious sort. A simple
"thanks" is all ...I'm glad to help.

Exchange Server 2003. Outlook 2003. I have some external Exchange
clients who are using Outlook connected to Exchange via "RPC over
HTTP." Recently they are reporting an Outlook like icon appearing
in the system tray that gives a message of the form:

Outlook is trying to retrieve data from the server

The icon stays for a while. What might be causing this and how can
I turn of the message popping up (if the message is not critical)?
Thanks for any help.

Means the network connection to the Exchange server is, for some
reason, acting up, or is slow. It could be their own home
computers/networks/Internet connections. If it doesn't happen to all
users at the exact same time, it isn't your server or network's
problem...and you can generally ignore it if it just happens
periodically. I personally like to see that message, because I
want to know - but if they don't, tell them to hold down CTRL and
then click on the Outlook icon in the notification area, and they
can select or deselect the notifications they wish. You can't
control this from the server.
