Re: Time

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi, I searched the system event log on my windows 2003 domain controller.and
I found alot of the following events. and I will show you an example of them
N.B: I didn't configure the DC to use an external time source. and I started
my job in 6/6/2007. and I don't know if the ex-administrator did it. and
honestly I don't know how to do this, all I know about it by group policy:
Computer Configuration -> System -> Windows Time Service. is there any tirck
on this manner??
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: W32Time
Event Category: None
Event ID: 12
Date: 7/30/2007
Time: 9:47:39 AM
User: N/A

Description:
Time Provider NtpClient: This machine is configured to use the domain
hierarchy to determine its time source, but it is the PDC emulator for the
domain at the root of the forest, so there is no machine above it in the
domain hierarchy to use as a time source. It is recommended that you either
configure a reliable time service in the root domain, or manually configure
the PDC to synchronize with an external time source. Otherwise, this machine
will function as the authoritative time source in the domain hierarchy. If
an external time source is not configured or used for this computer, you may
choose to disable the NtpClient.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: W32Time
Event Category: None
Event ID: 17
Date: 4/3/2007
Time: 4:04:59 AM
User: N/A

Description:
Time Provider NtpClient: An error occurred during DNS lookup of the manually
configured peer 'time.windows.com,0x1'. NtpClient will try the DNS lookup
again in 15 minutes. The error was: A socket operation was attempted to an
unreachable host. (0x80072751)

Hi guys.
I know this is not the best place to ask for, but this is the only one
I
know.
My question is: How can I enforce all PCs in my network to sync its
clocks
with windows 2003 domain controller clock?

Any help will be appreciated.
Regards
Fady
