Re: Sharing Inbox subfolders in Outlook 2003.

Hi Sue,

So basicallyl there is no way to propogate the permissions from the parent
folder down to child objects. That is one serious drawback to anyone who
wants to share their mailbox for a finite period. For example, we have an
employee who has had to take leave unexpectedly. They don't want to share
their mailbox permanently but would it is necessary for a temporary period.
So to do this we have to share over fifty floders and then unshare them when
the employee returns. Ridiculous if you ask me, when permission inheritance
is not impossible for other things, like NTFS file permissions.

Like I said the only way I found to share the entire mailbox in one foul
swoop was using the user's Exchange Mailbox Rights, giving "full mailbox
access" permission to the user I want to share the mailbox with which is not
desired.

Regards,

Jarryd

To access a shared folder that isn't one of the folders listed on the File |
Open | Other User's Folder dialog, the mailbox owner needs to grant Reviewer
permission to the root of the mailbox, as well as appropriate permission on
the folder.

The user who needs access then goes into Tools | E-mail Accounts or Tools |
Services (depending on the Outlook version), brings up the properties for
the Exchange Server service, and on the Advanced tab, adds the mailbox.
