Hi,
I am glad to hear that the problem has been fixed. Actually, it is a
Microsoft committed problem when you using Office 2000 and OWA at the same
machine. Since Office 2000 is released much earlier than IE6 (the most
commonly used edition of IE), the DHTML is a conflict component between
Office 2000 and IE. As you may know, some component installation of Office
is optional, and DHTML editor is one of them. So if IE6 calls the DHTML and
the key in registry still points to Office, system will recognize it as an
uninstalled Office component and then runs Windows installer. The solutions
provided in that KB article have passed all our tests and would not cause
any potential problem on your machine. So you can safely apply them.
Meanwhile, I am sorry for any inconvenience that this by-design problem
might bring upon you.
If you have any other questions or concerns in future, please do not
hesitate to contact us. It is always our pleasure to be of assistance.
Regards,
Pat Cai
