Re: Can Exmerge transfer permissions and calendars too?

Hi there,

We're migrating from a third-party mailsystem to Exchange 2003.

Part of the procedure involves using, on an isolated network, a copy
of the production system to migrate the bulk of mailbox data to an
interim Exchange server. After that, we export the mailboxes to PST
files and import them into the production Exchange server.

What I'd like to know is if Exmerge can save mailbox permissions and
calendars (containing appointments in other users' calendars) to PST
files as well? If so, will these permissions and linked appointments
be carried over when imported? Or can anyone suggest another way of
migrating those using import/export files?

Otherwise, we need to run the migration tool on the production system
just to migrate the mailbox permissions and calendars. That involves
changing users' passwords on the old mail system.

Thanks,

- Alan.

Exmerge dumps the mailbox out to PST files. PST files don't have
permissions. You'll need to have the users re-set the permissions they wish
(or you can do this using PFWEBDAV).
