RE: Exchange and Mac Entourage

I am running Exch 2003, and back when I set it up w/ entourage, where is asks
for the exchange server name, I put in the IP address instead. I don't think
using the owa address (/exchange or /owa) will work.

Hi,

We are introducing a few Mac's in our organisation with mixed results. One
of the major difficulties this so is Entourage, the mail/contact/calender
client for Mac.

Entourage works perfectly using pop3 or IMAP, but when setting up a direct
Exchange connection I can't send email any more.. I can get a connection
without problem, it automatically downloads all mail without problems, but
as soon as I try sending mail it fails.

I get the error:
"Entourage is unable to access the mail account you are using with the mail
server configured for that account.
- Error: -18597"

With the further description:

" The mail account is configured incorrectly in Entourage. Review the mail
account settings for typos and incorrect information (including your own
email address). On the Tools menu, click Accounts. In Accounts, select the
mail account and click Edit. The message has been moved to your Drafts
folder"

Reading up on this error on the Internet I see lots of people having the
same problem and there are a few solutions to this. One of the solutions
mostly written about is that I have to use the default SMTP address when
setting up the Account info in Entourage. Looking at our Exchange server,
this is what I have done - the Email I am using is the Email stated by the
Global E-mail address policy and is written in bold in my user properties..

I am using Exchange 2007 which is an upgraded version from 2003.

I have no problems connecting to other Exchange servers, but I have only
tried with Exchange 2003-servers - the only 2007 server I have access to is
the one that fails.. This leads me to believe that the source of the problem
is a configuration or permission issue in the Exchange 2007 Server.

Entourage is using OWA connectivity, so I am stating the full OWA address
when connecting and I have no problem connecting with my browser.. Some of
the blogs taht write about this problem says that I should use /exchange
instead of /owa in the server settings. I have tried this as well, with no
better result.

I sincerely hope that someone out there have experience connecting Entourage
to Exchange 2007 servers, since I really want this issue solved.. :)

Hopefully
