Environment: Exchange Server 2007 sp1. Workstations running XP Pro
and Outlook 2007. Outlook runs in Cached Exchange Mode. Same goes
for laptops, although they are running in Outlook Anywhere mode.

I have created a number of project related address books and placed
them in the Exchange Server's Public Folders. Users in the office
can add these address books to their addressbook lists (as in To:,
cc:, bcc:) by navigating their way, within Outlook, to the public
address book folder they wish access to, right clicking and
selecting Properties, and then checking the "Show this folder as an
e-mail Address Book" in the "Outlook Address Book" tab. Works fine.

I've also configured my Exchange server to support an Offline
Address Book (OAB)

I have a couple of laptop users that need offline access to the
address books that I've created within the public folder structure.
I've been trying to find an explanation for how to do this, but I
keep getting directed to OAB configuration. OAB works on these
offline laptops, but all that the laptops are seeing is the contents
of the GAL.

Is it possible to configure Outlook 2007 on a laptop, running Outlook
Anywhere, so that selected address books that exist within an
Exchange Server's Public Folders structure are available to the user
when working offline? Or, another way of putting this, can Public
Folder address books/contacts be configured so that they download to
a laptop user's local hard drive as part of the OAB update?

I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

I have no idea if this will work, but in cache mode, you can choose to
Download Public Folder favorites. If that folder is added as favorite,
maybe that will then show up as an Address Book when offline.

Yes, it will work. But it's a pain if people make changes, because you'll
end up with all sorts of version conflicts. If you're going to use public
folders for contacts, keep it simple.
