Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

i see...
but will this be invisible to the users or do i have to put the server to
downtime?? cos i cannot afford to. also is the method you suggested subject
to failures?

The point being Paul, that unless you have some specific reason, there is
no need to create a new AD domain. You are creating a lot of work for you,
and a lot of pain for your users.
You could just add the new server to the existing domain, DCPromo it,
transfer the FMSO roles to it and demote the old DC.
There are a couple of really nice articles on this:

there is the need cos the present server is old and full of problems and
purchasing a new server is not a problem cos its needed for performance
and reliability

Hi Paul,

You realise you don't have to do that right? Unless there's an
underlying need for this?

Oliver

Yes since I will be moving to a new physical server I want to create a
new domain as well with new usernames etc but will be using same data
so I will need to connect both servers together to transfer data
