The log and the error code 0xC1037AE6 clearly suggest that there is a problem with the ldf file itself. can you please check your event logs and the setup progress log file as well? see what goes wrong when the setup terminates with the following error message.
Running dcdiag in verbose mode would not be a bad idea. as I understand from the description you must have your schema already prepared before you are trying to recover. can you browse to the schema context and see if you can locate CN=ms-Exch-Monitor-Services,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ad,DC=domain,DC=com entry in there?
thanks,

So I've tried a rebuild, different service packs and am still not sure why.
this is happening. I have a single server windows 2003 domain with all roles
on the one DC. Nothing else has been joined to the domain. I'm attempting
to install Exchange 2003 Enterprise on the single DC (win 2k3 std) and not
having any luck. When forestprep is run I get the same error each time:
Setup failed while installing sub-component MS windows active directory
schema update with error code 0xC1037AE6 (please consult the installation
logs for a detailed description).
So in looking into the error I see it is usually a problem with spaces in
some environment variables which did not solve the problem.
Here is an extract of the ldif.err file:

Can anyone help me here?
I've tried completely redoing the box and I'm still getting the same problem.
Thanks for any help!!!
