Why is exchange 2007 pulling dns data from old server

Exch 2007 sp1 - I was running a Get-StorageGroupCopy status. I get an error
"the operation could not be performed becuase object 'exchange server' could
not be found in the domain controller 'cntrl01.mydomain.com'

The domain controller that holds all the FSMO roles is cntrl (cntrl01 is a
backup DC that holds AD). My DNS server that is statically assigned to the
exchange server is cntrl as well. Why is this looking at cntrl01 for
information? Where is another setting that might explain this? cntrl is
192.168.2.7 cntrl is 192.168.2.12

Thanks,
.
