Hi,

Our Exchange Server 2007 had unexpected shutdown few hours ago
(database was automatically recovered) and it's working fine.. How
can I start troubleshooting and find out what caused that shutdown?

Thnx.

Your event logs would be a good place to start. This isn't actually an
Exchange issue; it's a Windows one (could even be hardware).

Event log says:

System log:
The previous system shutdown at 03:50:17 on 13.11.2008 was unexpected.

Powershell log:
The description for Event ID ( 103 ) in Source ( Exchange ) cannot be found.
The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or
message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be
able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and
Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Error
loading the extended type data file:
Cannot find the registry key:
"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PowerShell\1\ShellIds\Exchange\Path", using "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Bin" to load the configuration files.
; ExceptionClass=RuntimeException
ErrorCategory=NotSpecified

ErrorMessage=Error loading the extended type data file:
Cannot find the registry key:
"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PowerShell\1\ShellIds\Exchange\Path", using "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Bin" to load the configuration files.
