Re: Certain users can't connect to OWA

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Here's an update:
I've seen lots of references to the 401.1 indicating permissions, and one
user worked if I added her to "domain admins", so it did appear to be
permissions-related. But nothing I knew of had changed, and these were not
new users. I recalled reading something w/ref to group membership, so I
removed the one user (whose pw I know) from all groups and, voila, she was
in. I added back different groups and was able to pinpoint the problem to a
very old e-mail distribution group that had migrated from Exch 5.5. I
removed user #2 from this same group, and she reported that OWA now worked
for her as well. Have not tried w/user #3, but she too is a member of the
suspect group. The only odd thing I could see about this particular
distribution group was that I had at some point changed it to a security
group in AD, and it also contained a reference to a user (owner) that was
deleted some time ago. Other than that, I couldn' see anything odd. And we
have many, many groups that don't seem to create problems.

Anyway, for now problem appears to be solved. Thanks for your input on this
any many other posts - your names have become very familiar as I've combed
through these groups over the past days.

The three problem users all get the 401 1 1326 error code. OWA works for
the other 250+ users.

401.1 errors are the result of invalid credentials. That can also be
caused by problem with Kerberos, and/or the user lacking the necessary
permission to logon to the server.
