Thanks,

Cary

Good afternoon!

Quick Question: client with multiple AD Sites - EXCH2007 box in "HQ",
multiple WINXP SP3/MS Outlook 2003 SP3 clients in the Sites.

All clients now log into the domain. Local Domain Controller in each Site.
However, when going through the process of joining the computers to the
domain and configuring the profile for each user (which includes MS
Outlook - running in Cached Exchange Mode) we notice extreme network
slowness in the remote Sites. There is a T1 in each Remote Site. Okay.
Slowness is expected as the .ost file is being created on the machine.
There are approx. 20 machines in each remote site.

QUESTION: does Exchange/Outlook use http port 1164 for this process? We
are looking on our Firewalls and see a lot of traffic on the days that the
Outlook clients were configured.

Thanks,

Cary

You've looked up what TCP 1164 > 1166 is, right?
Sounds about right for the initial suck of data to the OST.
